SITUATION The Anglican churches of St Johns and St Boniface serve the parish of Nursling with Rownhams, on the north west of Southampton. The parish is in the borough of Test Valley and borders the parishes of North Baddesley, Romsey, Totton and Lord's Hill. Nursling and Rownhams straddles the M27 and M271 and has the A3057 (Romsey to Southampton road) running through it. The population of the parish was 5294 at the 2001 census. There is also a large and expanding industrial estate west of the M271.

South west corner of the Parish - Nursling Industrial Estate Young families predominate in the recently developed private housing estates; senior citizens in the older properties in Nursling and on the Hillyfields council estate, and in the permanent mobile home park (north of the motorway). The hamlets of Toothill and Lee are occupied by a small farming community.

are two Church of England
Controlled Primary Schools, one in each village with a total enrolment of around 450
pupils. At Rownhams there is a residential old people's home. At Nursling there are three public houses /
eating houses and a small parade of shops, including a post office. There is
a farm shop in Hillyfields and
a golf club off the Romsey main road.
Local Nursling Shops CHURCHES You will be sure of a warm welcome at either of our churches. Services at St Boniface are based on more traditional liturgy whereas the main services at St Johns use the more modern Common Worship. |
THE VILLAGE The 'village' has now grown out of all recognition into a dormitory suburb of Southampton. Many different types of people live here. Major employers include the Ordnance Survey and Southampton General Hospital, but quick access to the motorway system makes the area attractive to commuters.

Nursling School The nearest doctor's surgery is the Lord's Hill Health Centre. Community facilities include St. John's Church Hall (Rownhams Lane), the Community Centre (Horns Drove), the large Nursling and Rownhams Village Hall and Social Club in Nursling village centre, together with the Scout Hall. |
